Finland has imported nuclear engineering knowhow from abroad since the 1950's. The Finnish Nuclear Society (FNS) has been distributing this knowledge and in addition, the annual FNS excursions have opened windows to the world. This year is the 50th anniversary of the FNS and it is time to reflect where we are now and where we are going to by organizing an international symposium on Nuclear Science and Technology (NST2016) in early November.
The objective of the two-day event is to bring together professionals in the nuclear energy field and to promote the dialogue among ourselves as well as the communication to society at large. Our symposium gathers together research, industry and authority representatives from Finland and abroad for scientific talks and industry presentations. In connection with the symposium, we organize the FNS 50-year anniversary dinner and lectures for the general public.
The venue of NST2016 is Marina Congress Center in downtown Helsinki that is perfectly suited for an event like this. There is special-prized accommodation available in the neighbouring Scandic Grand Marina hotel.
We cordially welcome all nuclear energy professionals to the NST2016 symposium in Helsinki!
Our symposium was very successful - thanks to all participants! NST2016 was held successfully in the beginning of November. We heard about forty high-quality presentations on various branches of nuclear engineering. In addition to fission energy, presentations covered fusion energy, nuclear waste management and various experimental methods. All presentations will be published on these NST2016 web pages by 15 November. An e-mail notification will be sent to all participants. [7 Nov 2016]
The final program is ready! The final version of NST2016 program has been published on Friday 28 Oct (see "Download" box on the right-hand side) and the symposium leaflet has been sent to registered participants. If you did not receive the leaflet in your e-mail, please contact the NST organizers asap (nst2016(at)ats-fns.fi). It is still possible to register to NST2016, but the number of free seats is limited! [28 Oct 2016]
The full program was published on 7th of October. The first full NST2016 program with invited talks, Tier 1 presentations and now also Tier 2 presentations has been published on the Program subpage. The program is still tentative, but we can already now look forward to a most interesting symposium! [7 Oct 2016]

Program of Studia Generalia published. In connection with NST2016, we organize lectures to the general public on management of nuclear waste and on fusion energy research by Timo Äikäs and Taina Kurki-Suonio, respectively. The program is in Finnish only. [9 Sep 2016]
30 days left for sending proposals for Tier 2 presentations. The deadline for sending so-called Tier 2 papers, aimed for a wider audience, is 30 Sep 2016.
